The Palouse landscape is so much like the ocean - it never shows the same face twice! I loved this image with the iconic red barn tucked away, but very much a part of the image. A pastel seemed to be appropriate.

Bounty
Our friends, the Shaws, moved out to the country and this was their first real harvest! Not bad! All the colors, lights, shadows, textures, not to mention the rich bounty attracted me to this image.

Sun & Flowers
This is the third painting I've done from photos taken by Sarah Mortimore at their home north of Moscow. The light and colors are what 'drew' me to it. Pastels seem to fit the bill, too.

1955 Plymouth
A little watercolor of the 1955 Plymouth that was originally owned by Julie's uncle, then bought by our friend Dave Trail. After Dave died last winter, his wife decided to sell the car. Julie and I got to not only ride in it, I got to drive it, thanks to another friend, Richard Bowman! (No, we didn't buy it.)

Haystack On Spring Break
What can I say? Every time I visit Cannon Beach, I have to see Haystack Rock. And every time I see the rock, I want to paint it. I absolutely love the sea, the sea sky, the sand, and all the rocks. Call it a Cannon Beach obsession!
Four Horses of the Appaloosa
Stepping out of my comfort zone, I decided to try my hand at doing some animals. These sun-warmed horses grazing on the Palouse seemed to be worth a try in pastels.
Astoria Harbor
While visiting Astoria with Julie and my sister Judy, I saw this lovely old fishing boat. It was sitting quietly among hundreds of barking sea lions. It deserved to be painted for its beauty amidst the noise!

Creek Sunset
Yes, another painting of a Palouse field and sunset. I saw this as a photo that I think Hannah Grieser took and had to do it in pastels. God just keeps making irresistable scenes out here!
Christmas For Ida
The third in a series of my lovely granddaughters. This is sweet Ida Mae Church, #2 child of Mike and Kathryn. A pastel seemed to fit the mood she created with her dancing pose.

Pensive Madeline
My oldest granddaughter, Madeline, lives in New York. Her mother took a photo of her in a pensive mood at a restaurant. I loved the light, the mood, the colors, but most of all, the little 7 year-old girl!
